doggone it

I missed a week again, but I had a bad week, Last Friday, not yesterday, my two co-workers and I were called in and told that there would definitely be a change in the next couple of months; one of those changes was definitely our job would be taken into another dept as our calls were so far down It may be possible, they don't know, that we could apply for a job there. No guarantees there would be a opening, or that we would be chosen. Happy recession.

anyway, on a better note I have almost got together everything for my final package. I hope my partner will enjoy it.

Have a great Sunday.

Mea Culpa

I didn't realize I should blog once a week, I thought it was a month, so I am sorry. However, my summer has flown by, but i had a lovely vacation week where all of my grandchildren were around. I cannot find my camera again; it is because I take such few pictures and I don't know how to overcome this problem. Also when I posted on my second package i forgot one of my favorite things, a woolly sheep tape measure. I know my swap mate couldn't know how much the crossword books would be when she sent them, but when my daughter was in the hospital for surgery and then the next day when we had to go back twice to the er for an allergic reaction, it sure helped pass the time.

my second package

I got my second package this past week, and once again I can't find my camera (in my own defence it is very small, and I take few pictures) so I won't have a picture until I find it! I got four skeins, yes four, of the loveliest greenish blue (that's my description, and am not good w/ colors) 220 yds each, a candy bar which was gone in a minute, 2 crossword puzzle books.

I was a very lucky secret pal because my pal sent me my first package already and it arrived on Monday!!! I have had a crazy week and therefore didn't get this up and posted. My grandchildren came to visit on their way home from the shore and Elizabeth posed with all my stuff. Two books about making bags/purses, cables for my interchangeable knitpicks needles a book mark which is on the far right in front of the knitting book and to the right of the cables.

After we did this we all had a Barbie fashion show to keep her busy while Sarah and I talked. Then we posed them and took a picture of the models and Elizabeth the designer. I promised her I put that on my blog as well.

Williams sweater

Here is Williams sweater and I finished it just in time to go on vacation w/ him. It is made of cotton acrylic mix both child and mother friendly. I made it a bit large to get more wear. Also it is knitted from the top down and there was ABSOLUTELY no sewing together.

Questionnaire for SP14
Here is the questionnaire for SP14. Please be sure to post it in a spot on your blog where your pal can easily find it. Since your pal will use this to help create your packages you'll want to have it posted to your blog no later than July 10th, but sooner would be better as it can be helpful to us in selecting your pals.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
wool, cotton, none I really don't like

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
well I treated myself to the new ADDI interchangeable in the Bella needle storing bag and the rest in covered baskets

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I started when I was 8 but started really knitting in my early 20s, made an afghan out of variegated and navy blue wool squares while in high school. I consider myself intermediate to advanced. My Mom taught me; as a little girl I first tried to knit at the shore while my cousin Eileen (who is 80 y.o. today) knitted argyle socks for her boyfriend, now her husband. Knitting these socks was all the rage for young high school and college girls in the 50s. She said he wore them--I asked not so long ago.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I have an Amazon wish list, almost all of it is mystery books

5. What's your favorite scent?
well , I don't know the base scent, but I wear CURVE by Liz Claiborne so I guess it is non-flowery as any flowery candles, or flowers themselves, or potpourri make me sneeze and cough. I like the smell of vanilla and cinnamon etc.

anything chocolate , but never coconut

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? none others really

live alone, have a Labrador retriever

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? yes indeed

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? circular exclusively, easier on my joints, and not real fond of plastic 16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

INTERWEAVE, VOGUE KNITTING, can't think of anything right now. I love unusual tape measures

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
yes, but I can't remember it's name. I plan to take a class on it, it is where you make different small squares, but make all in one piece by picking up from a former square with only a few number of stitches on your at any one time. Reminds me of bargello. There is a really pretty purse of this style in a recent INTERWEAVE, I think

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
